Isabela, the Garden of the Northwest

Isabela  is a small and modern coastal town located in the northwestern tip off the island of Puerto Rico. It is also known as the Garden of the Northwest because of the natural beauty of its country side; its peaks, fertile valleys, lush tropical trees and vegetation, and light blue coastal waters. Its urban environs spread over an area of 10 square miles, with a population no bigger than 50,000 souls. Its rural area spread over an area 150 square miles. Despite frequent visitors to the west coast of the island during the year, the town of Isabela and its environs has remained largely unspoiled by tourism. Although there is a certain degree of dynamism in the life of the urban area, it continues in its normal way without a "tourist" focus. In the rural and coastal areas there is usually the dominant feeling of a relaxed atmosphere, especially at the beach areas.
